Hidden Ocean Currents

I thought about something recently to make the ocean a little bit more lively, how about hidden ocean currents that push items, kelp, boat fragments and the such around?

I think it would make the ocean a lot more lively and pretty. Of course I don't think these hidden ocean currents should affect boats at all, that would be an absolute pain. Only for little stuff like the things I listed above.
